Derma FNS micro-needling for facial rejuvenation, acne and stretchmarks
Micro-needling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates the body to naturally produce more collagen and elastin within the skin. This plumps up the skin and fills out contours, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, stretchmarks and scarring.
How does micro-needling work?
Your doctor will use a Dermapen - an electronic device that resembles a pen – with
micro-needles at the tip. They move the Dermapen over the surface of the skin to create microscopic channels in the skin while still keeping the top layer intact. This stimulation of the top layer encourages the body to generate new skin cells to repair itself, which results in the production of fresh new collagen and elastin which are essential in keeping your skin elastic, firmer, wrinkle free and glowing.
What’s micro-needling best for?
This is a safe treatment for nearly all skin types. As well as tightening and plumping skin, this procedure also minimizes the size of skin pores. It can help to improve the appearance of scars caused by surgery, trauma, burns and acne, brown age spots, lax skin on the hands and neck, and can be effective in reducing stretch marks.
What does the micro-needling procedure involve?
The Dermapen is moved backwards and forwards across the skin as the microneedles automatically go in and out of the device around 1000 times a minute.
For minimum needle depths Dermapen treatments are painless. For treatments over 0.5mm deep, your doctor will apply a topical anaesthetic cream to the skin 15-40 minutes before the treatment, so discomfort, if any, is minimal.
After the procedure your skin may be slightly red. This can last between 1 to 4 days depending on the depth and intensity of the treatment.
Most people are able to return to their normal daily activities after the treatment. And breathable camouflage cream will seal the skin and cover any redness so you can return to work.
What results can I expect from micro-needling?
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment with thicker, plumper and more youthful looking skin. Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). Your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments.
To achieve optimum results your doctor will advise you use active treatment creams, such as Vitamin A, C or Resveratrol & Procyanidin to strengthen your skin, especially for thin or delicate areas, before and after treatments.
For skin rejuvenation 4-6 treatments are recommended (4 weeks apart). For acne scarring, we advise 6 treatments (6 weeks apart), and for stretch marks, 4-8 treatments, (4-6 weeks apart).
