Botox for lines and wrinkles
Wrinkles and lines are all a natural part of ageing, but everyone wants to look and feel their best. Botox is the most popular form of anti-ageing treatment and can gently smooth and soften signs of ageing so you look and feel rejuvenated.
At central London clinic Twenty-five Harley Street, our specialists Dr Suchitra Badvey and Professor Ash Mosahebi can expertly use botox (Botulinum) to enhance your features in a natural way.
How does it work?
Using knowledge of anatomy, the aesthetics expert will safely inject a small amount of Botulinum toxin into areas on the face, which relaxes the muscles, making them temporarily inactive. This causes the skin to become smoother and appear younger.
What’s this treatment best for?
We tend to get the most lines and wrinkles around the areas we use the most, such as the eyes and mouth, where the muscles are over-active, and this leads to changes in the skin such as wrinkles. Luckily in Botox treatments, it’s the upper third of the face which sees the best results. It’s especially effective in treating frown lines, crow's feet around the eyes, and lines on the bridge of the nose.
What does the procedure involve?
This is a quick procedure that can be carried out in your lunch break. After a discussion with your doctor on what you want to achieve, and medical history, she’ll clean the area with an antiseptic wipe and use micro needles to inject tiny amounts of Botox into several points on the face. Afterwards, you’ll be fine to go about your day as normal.
What results can I expect?
Effects will be subtle at first, but you should start to notice a smoothing of lines and wrinkles three days after having the treatment, with a full effect within two weeks.
When Botox it is injected into a specific muscles in the face it blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscle, which allows the muscle to relax and the skin to smooth. Gradually after 3-4 months muscle activity will fully return. But those who are happy with the treatment may choose to keep it topped up after this time.
Botox to soften the jaw line
Botox can also effectively be used to soften jaw lines. If you’re conscious of having a more square jaw than you want, a Botox treatment can be jaw-slimming.
This treatment is known as Masseter Muscle Reduction, and is where Botox is injected into the two main chewing muscles, which cover the sides of the jaw just behind the cheeks. A reduction in the prominence of these muscles gives the jawline a more triangular shape, enhancing femininity and youthfulness..
